Xeriscape landscaping, quality landscaping that conserves water and protects the environment, is the most exciting concept to hit
the landscape industry in decades. The term Xeriscape was coined in
There are three planting demonstration plots, each featuring plantings with low water use plants that use
similar amounts of water. One plot will have very low water use, another with low water use, and the last with moderate water
use. These plots each feature a tree and different specimen plants that will grow well in our climate.
The ultimate goal of this project is to have an education tool that can be used by the community as well as the schools to demonstrate that xeric planting can be utilized at their homes and businesses to conserve water and beautify our city. The plants in the plots have been purchased from local greenhouses so that anyone who uses these plots will be able to find these plants and use them in their own landscape.
